About

The Open Design Collaboratory (ODC) is a Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research lab, makerspace, and community engagement hub at the Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology (ICCIT), University of Toronto Mississauga. Established in September 2023 by Dr. Samar Sabie, the ODC is on a mission to explore the critical, communicative, and emancipative affordances of design through a wide range of justice and sustainability oriented projects. Through research, teaching, and outreach, we also seek to re-envision how we do design, focusing on material-conceptual processes that bring together reflexivity and intervention.
